The Church of Santa Maria all'Eremo is located in San Godenzo. The first documents are dated back to 1021. In 1028 the bishop of Fiesole Jacopo the Bavaro granted to the Benedictine monks of San Gaudenzio dell'Abbazia in Alpe. In 1482 the building was donated to the monastery together to the order of the Servants of Mary of Santissima Annunziata in Florence. This small community scomparì in 1652. The building was recently restored, it still presents its nineteenth to a single aisle. From here comes a bell dated 1294, kept at the church of San Gaudenzio.
